We featured Andrew a while ago as one of our first interviews. Since then, on top of his successful acting and modeling career, Andrew has created his own cold press juice and smoothie company JUICEMAN, and wrote a book Juicemanifesto. He has also recently launched Cooper’s Digest, a lifestyle blog full of healthy recipes, fitness tips, and fun family work outs
Today Andrew shares with us his kids Taylor and Jackson’s favorite Juice and Smoothie recipes.
“The great thing about bringing up my kids with a lot of home cooking, picking veggies from the garden, and juicing, is that they really appreciate what real food is. They know the ngredients they like and also which ones they need to eat. So with juicing we have a little area set out in the kitchen where we make juices and smoothies, they will get a little step and bring a bowl of fruit and vegetables over(mainly fruit) and I will juice with them and then add some spinach, carrot, kale or cucumber to it for the goodness. Simply a little distraction and chuck the greens in 🙂 With smoothies it’s a lot easier as you can really disguise a good amount of greens such as kale and spinach with flavours like pineapple and banana. So for me with juice it’s more about fresh fruit juices with some good veggies and with smoothies it is about packing it full of the good stuff.”
The Juice (Serves 2):
- 1/2 Pineapple
- handful Spinach
- 1/2 Lemon
- 1x Orange
- 1/4 Cucumber
- 1/4 Melon (Watermelon or Cantaloupe)
Simply peel the outer skin from your pineapple, orange and lemon, Wash all the ingredients and juice in the order above so you sandwich the greens in between the fruit. Feel free to add more greens and some ginger and herbs if making for your self. We will serve the kids and then add these for our juice.
My Current Winter Smoothie (Serves 2):
- 1 cup Frozen Banana(cut into Chunks)
- 1 handfuls baby spinach
- 2 kale leaves (Stalk removed)
- Handful of frozen blueberries
- 1x orange
- A few cashew nuts
- 1 tsp Coconut Butter
- 2x medjool dates
- pinch or few drops of vanilla
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp spirulina
- 1 tsp hemp protein.
- handful of ice
Put all the ingredients into your blender. Always put the solid ingredients in first followed by any powders and topped wit greens and citrus. Blend until smooth as if you serve with a straw this will mean no blockage.
